Problem: I was approached by a client who had an old ecommerce website. It was archaic, had no social media, he was unable to update it himself without having to go the previous developer and in addition to all this, he had a second job and couldn’t devote much time to his site and so was not getting much business.
Hypothesis: If I built out a new and better ecommerce site for him whereby he could update it constantly and not have to rely on a developer, he will become more in charge of his business and it will hopefully thrive. By also combining social media with the site, he could drive traffic back to his site and therefore get more business and recognition.
Solution: I got together with my UX/Designer and we created a site that he, with some training, be able to fully manage. We enhanced the ecommerce aspect that he previously found daunting and cumbersome. There were also so many different nuances that it was bogging him down, so we made it more user friendly by having customers simply contact him. We tied in social media so he could promote his success and all the travels and drive back traffic to the site.
Results: The site and his company are a huge success. His business increased ten fold to the point where this is now his full-time job: taking people around the world! Enhancing the ecommerce feature as well as having customers call him to help him customize trips for his clients is a great success. His social media presence has blown up and he has traveled to over 60 countries!
