Problem: Whenever Editorial wants to update the navigation or if there is a “unique event” i.e., Covid, Elections, Primaries, Olympics, etc.… and Editorial would like to add/change a link in the header navigation, or in the more tab, it would require Dev and QA resources to build it and test it as well as a release to get it user facing. This was a decent lift to get the link up, and then we had to reverse the process to take it down. It was especially challenging if this was an urgent and last-minute request.
Hypothesis: If there was a way to allow Editorial to add a link to the Header Nav, More tab, Footer and Legal links, without using Dev or QA resources, it would free up time for our team to continue working on projects lined up in the current sprint and would allow Editorial to add different nav items as frequently or infrequently as they want, and overall would make the process of updating the navigation menus much easier and streamlined.
Solution: Give Editorial the ability to add and/or remove items from the Header Nav, More tab, Footer and Legal via the CMS (Layout Manager) seamlessly without needing Dev or QA resources.
